This week, Robinhood was honored as one of the world's Most Innovative Companies in 2016 by Fast Company. This is a tremendous distinction that further validates our mission to democratize access to the stock market. We couldn't have done this without the support of each and every Robinhoodie!

Coming in at number 11, we were recognized for “removing all the barriers to stock trading” and are proud to be featured alongside companies like Facebook, Uber, Netflix, Apple, and Alphabet. Robinhood also topped the list of the Most Innovative Companies in Finance and placed second in Design. Thanks to Fast Company’s editors and writers for including us in this “collection of remarkable organizations that are truly disrupting business-as-usual across the world.”

Smart Notifications

Robinhood adds support for customizable notifications

Last October, we released Cards for Robinhood, a new home for your personalized news and notifications. It was the first major update since we launched, and the motivation was simple: help Robinhoodies keep up with their portfolio and the market.

Today, we are excited to build on that idea with Smart Notifications, a free upgrade. We also added settings to customize price alerts for your positions, watchlist, or both, when securities move by 5% or 10%. Notifications can be sent via push notification, email, or both.

If you aren’t always monitoring the market or keeping an eye on your portfolio, you might miss out on an opportunity or that breaking news story. With Smart Notifications, you won’t miss a beat.

We’ve been tweaking and iterating exactly how to best deliver notifications for several months and we hope you love them as much as we do. As always, we welcome your feedback!

watchOS 2 Updates and More

New Apple Watch, iPhone, and Android updates

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide the best trading experience, we’re delighted to announce updates to our Apple Watch, iPhone, and Android apps.

Following the release of watchOS 2, we’ve introduced two new features that will enhance the Robinhood for Apple Watch experience even more. The app now takes advantage of the Digital Crown, making it much easier to select the number of shares when placing an order. No more repeated tapping -- a simple rotation takes care of it. Also, you can now customize your Watch face by adding your daily performance from Robinhood, so you can better keep track of your portfolio at-a-glance.

Our iPhone and Android apps also now clearly separate your portfolio from your watchlist, and let you (at last!) re-order your stocks to your liking.

Happy Trading,
The Robinhood Team

#RobinhoodRewind 2015

Robinhood reflects on its most successful year yet

With 2016 upon us, we wanted to take a moment to look back at 2015, Robinhood’s most successful year yet.

We’re delighted by the positive responses we’ve received over the past year. Your recommendations to friends, tweets of love, and ongoing support have catapulted us to become one of the fastest-growing brokerages with over $2 billion in transactions!

Here’s a look back at some of our major 2015 highlights:

  • Released Robinhood for iPhone to the public, followed by Robinhood for Apple Watch
  • Introduced Robinhood for Android
  • Raised $50 million in funding from NEA and Index Ventures
  • Unveiled Cards to create a more personalized trading experience
  • Announced new integrations with StockTwits, Openfolio, Quantopian, and Rubicoin
  • Welcomed 24 new Robinhoodies to the Sherwood Forest

We’ve also been recognized with several awards, including the Apple Design Award (Robinhood is the first finance company to ever earn this distinction) and the coveted Golden Kitty Award from Product Hunt. Recently, we became one of only three apps recognized in both Apple and Google’s “Best Apps of 2015” features. We’re also a finalist for two TechCrunch Crunchie awards, which will be announced in February.

This year, we’re focused on adding even more shine to Robinhood with new features and services such as margin trading and a web platform. We’re also looking forward to introducing Robinhood abroad, providing wider access to financial markets. We can’t wait to reveal what else is in stock for 2016.

Sound like a merry time? Peek at our openings.

Happy New Year!

New Integrations

More investors can now access Robinhood

Today, we’re excited to announce integrations with StockTwits, Openfolio, Quantopian, and Rubicoin. Robinhood is now accessible to even more investors, and Robinhoodies can seamlessly connect their accounts with tools such as StockTwits and Quantopian.

Most of the integrations are for iOS, but our partners will be supporting additional platforms in the coming months! Here are some descriptions provided by the third-party partners*:

Sources: Rubicoin, Openfolio, and StockTwits

Sources: Rubicoin, Openfolio, and StockTwits

StockTwits
“With the Robinhood integration, true social trading is now a reality on StockTwits. The StockTwits community can now easily trade from their watchlist and share those trades with a few swipes.”

Openfolio
“This integration allows Robinhood customers to compare their portfolios and benchmark their performance against the Openfolio community, the markets, and their peers. Openfolio investors can trade – for free – via the Robinhood platform with all trading activity automatically synced between the platforms.”

Quantopian
“This integration makes it possible for anyone to trade algorithmically for free. Algorithmic trading used to be reserved for big companies with expensive tools and exclusive access to cheap trades. Quantopian and Robinhood make the process free, from data to platform to execution.”

Rubicoin
“This integration allows investors to quickly and easily sign-in or sign-up for a Robinhood account right from the Rubicoin app, and immediately start investing.” The Rubicoin integration will be live in mid-December.

We can’t wait to hear how you’re enjoying these new integrations and look forward to adding new partners in the near future. Stay tuned!

Happy Trading,
The Robinhood Team
