Introducing Messages

Timely, relevant, and actionable updates tailored to your account

Over the next few weeks, you may discover a new feature on Robinhood called Messages. This update introduces a new tab to the app, where you’ll receive important information about your account and holdings.

Messages on Robinhood are tailored to be timely, relevant, and actionable. They’re personalized to your account, and are grouped into easy-to-navigate threads.

We’ll send you account updates (like deposits, withdrawals, and bank linking), messages specific to your holdings (like stocks, options, and crypto purchases or sales, dividends, and corporate actions), and announcements. You’ll also find links to helpful resources.

To ensure that the most important information reaches you first, critical messages are marked with a red dot, and appear at the top of the page until read. You can mute threads, and still access these updates from the Messages tab. Learn more.

Messages will begin rolling out to customers slowly as we continue to make improvements, so you might not see them in the app immediately. We’re already working on adding more features, and your feedback will help us prioritize what to build first.

Robinhood Raises $323M to Democratize Finance For All

Series E Funding Led by DST Global

July 22 2019.jpg

We’re focused on building products and services that expand access to our financial system. Since May of last year, we’ve launched our own clearing system, Clearing by Robinhood; rolled out a new Robinhood Gold experience including Nasdaq Level 2 Market Data; and introduced multi-leg options strategies. We also acquired Robinhood Snacks to bring people digestible financial news; grew our management team, including leaders for operations and finance; and expanded Robinhood Crypto to more than 30 states.

Today, Robinhood is announcing a $323M Series E financing at a $7.6B valuation. This round was led by DST Global, with participation from investors including Ribbit Capital, NEA, Sequoia, and Thrive Capital.

We’ll use the funding to keep pursuing our mission of democratizing finance for all.

Robinhood means Robinhood Markets, Inc. and its subsidiaries, including Robinhood Financial LLC, Robinhood Securities, LLC and Robinhood Crypto, LLC.

New Charts on Robinhood Web

Indicators and candlestick charts for stocks and cryptocurrency

Over the next few weeks, we’re introducing improvements to our charts on Robinhood Web to help you better understand and analyze market trends and moves. You’ll be able to view candlestick charts for stocks and cryptocurrency, and add indicators to stock and crypto charts.

Candlestick Charts

Candlestick charts can help investors better understand how prices move. While a line chart shows you only the close price, each candlestick shows you four pieces of information: the open, high, low, and close price during a certain time period.

Go to any stock or crypto page and click the button near the top right corner of the page to switch between the “Line Chart” and the “Candlestick Chart.” Learn more about candlestick charts here.

Indicators can help you understand and offer more ways to visualize what's happening in the market, and are the foundation for various technical trading strategies. Now you can add these five indicators to any stock and crypto charts on Robinhood Web:

  • Volume

  • Simple Moving Average (SMA)

  • Exponential Moving Average (EMA)

  • Relative Strength Index (RSI), including Wilder's Relative Strength Index (Wilder's RSI)

  • Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD)

To view an indicator, go to any stock or crypto chart and click the button on the bottom right corner of the chart. The chart will appear in a new tab, and you’ll see an option to add indicators on the top right corner of the page. Learn more about indicators on our help center.

We’re always looking to make Robinhood even more powerful, and your feedback helps us prioritize which features we build first. These tools were among the most frequently requested—we’re excited for you to try them!
